Happy Feet

Her name is Isabella.

She is only four years old, can not speak, and rarely smiles. She is a resident at the homeless shelter with her mom, her mother’s boyfriend and 7-month old baby sister. She didn’t stand out because of how cute or how smart she was. It was the pain in her eyes, and the sadness that drew me to her. As sad as her story is, no matter how dark, no matter how difficult, no matter how insignificant, young or old someone is, God steps down from His heavenly throne to reveal His Love. Sometimes through the smallest of acts.

From the time we met Isabella, I noticed that she would wear the same pair of worn out pink crocks. (plastic shoes) Her mom let me know it was the only pair she owned. Well, since fall has arrived and the weather is getting colder, it was time for a new pair of shoes for Isabella.

So I took Isabella to the shoe store, had her sized and fitted for a pair of the most beautiful pair of shoes a little four year old could own. A pair of “Dora the explora light up shoes!”

At first the feeling was strange, but as she got used to them and without taking her eyes off her feet, she began to realize that every time she took a step, the lights went on! Amazing to see life in her eyes-BUT THEN we got to the shelter and even more amazing, for the first time I saw Isabella (still watching her feet) with a HUGE smile on her face as she began to DANCE in excitement in front of everyone there! What a testimony to her mom, and the residents at the homeless shelter who stood in amazement as they watched Isabella dance with happy feet!!!!!!

Cost of the shoes: $29.99
Sacrifice of time: 60 minutes
A smile on a little girls face, dancing feet, and the testimony of Gods love: PRICELESS
